Terms of Service

Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of PuckList, Canada's peer-to-peer marketplace for used hockey equipment. By creating an account or using PuckList, you agree to these Terms.

Effective September 12, 2026

1. PuckList's role

PuckList provides a marketplace that allows users to list, discover, buy, sell, and communicate about hockey equipment. Unless PuckList explicitly introduces a transaction or payment service later, please understand that:

  • •PuckList is not the buyer or seller of user-listed equipment.
  • •Transactions are arranged between users.
  • •PuckList does not take possession of listed equipment.
  • •PuckList does not guarantee that a transaction will be completed.
  • •PuckList does not automatically inspect or authenticate equipment.
  • •PuckList does not guarantee the accuracy of user listings.
  • •PuckList is not responsible for delivery, pickup, payment, refunds, warranties, or disputes between users, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable Canadian federal or provincial law.

2. Your account

You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date. You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your account and for keeping your password secure.

You must not:

  • •impersonate another person
  • •create accounts for fraudulent purposes
  • •circumvent suspension or moderation
  • •attempt unauthorized access to PuckList, its systems, or another user's account
  • •manipulate marketplace systems, such as reviews, search, or listing visibility
  • •scrape, crawl, or otherwise abuse the service
  • •use PuckList for any unlawful activity

PuckList may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, fraud, safety concerns, abuse, or other legitimate marketplace-protection reasons.

3. Age

Users must be at least 18 years old to independently enter into transactions through PuckList. If someone under 18 uses PuckList, they must do so with the involvement and supervision of a parent or legal guardian, and the parent or guardian is responsible for any transactions involving the minor.

4. Listings

Sellers are responsible for:

  • •accurate descriptions of the equipment
  • •accurate condition information
  • •genuine photos that reasonably represent the item, where applicable
  • •disclosing known material damage or defects
  • •setting their own prices
  • •having the legal right to sell the item

Prohibited on PuckList:

  • •stolen property
  • •counterfeit goods
  • •fraudulent listings
  • •misleading listings
  • •illegal goods
  • •recalled products where resale is prohibited
  • •items intentionally altered to conceal safety defects
  • •content that violates third-party intellectual-property rights
  • •items prohibited by the PuckList Marketplace Rules

PuckList may review, reject, remove, flag, or restrict listings at any time. See the Marketplace Rules.

5. Hockey equipment safety

Used hockey equipment may have wear, hidden damage, reduced protective performance, expired certifications, modifications, or other safety issues that are not immediately visible. Buyers are responsible for inspecting equipment and determining its suitability before use.

Pay particular attention to safety-critical equipment, including:

  • •helmets
  • •facial protection
  • •neck protection
  • •skates
  • •other protective equipment

Where relevant, verify applicable certification and expiry information. PuckList does not certify that used equipment is safe for play.

This safety information does not override any statutory rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

6. Transactions

Buyers and sellers determine the terms of a transaction between themselves, including:

  • •price
  • •payment method
  • •pickup or delivery arrangements
  • •shipping, if applicable
  • •returns or refunds
  • •any other transaction terms

We recommend using traceable payment methods and following safe meeting practices. Transactions currently occur independently between users unless PuckList later introduces an integrated transaction system. See our Safety guidance.

7. User content

You retain ownership of the listing photos, descriptions, and other content you submit to PuckList. By submitting it, you grant PuckList a limited licence to host, reproduce, display, format, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate and promote the marketplace. You must have the right to upload any content you submit.

8. Moderation

PuckList may:

  • •approve or reject listings
  • •remove listings
  • •investigate reports
  • •suspend accounts
  • •restrict access to the service
  • •preserve information when reasonably required for safety, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or dispute investigation

PuckList does not promise that every listing or user will be reviewed.

9. Intellectual property

PuckList branding, software, interface, original content, and other proprietary materials belong to their respective rights holders and may not be copied or misused except as permitted by law.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

PuckList is provided on an "as available" basis. User-to-user transactions inherently involve risks, including the risk that a transaction is not completed, that equipment is not as described, or that another user acts dishonestly.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, PuckList is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the marketplace or from transactions between users. Any limitations apply only to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law and do not limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold PuckList harmless from losses arising out of your unlawful activity, your listings or content, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of third-party rights.

12. Changes to these Terms

PuckList may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated reasonably where appropriate. Continued use of PuckList after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, subject to any mandatory consumer-protection or other rights that apply based on a user's province or territory.
